True Disciples Build On Solid Foundation
True Disciples
Matthew 7:21-23
- Not everyone who calls out to Me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of My Father in heaven will enter.
- On judgment day many will say to Me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in Your name and cast out demons in Your name and performed many miracles in Your name.’
- But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from Me, you who break God’s laws.’
Building on a Solid Foundation
Luke 6:46-49
- So why do you keep calling Me ‘Lord!, Lord!’ when you refuse to do what I say?
- Whoever comes to me, and hears my sayings, and does them, I will show you to whom he is like:
- He is like a man who built a house, and dug down deep, and laid the foundation on bedrock; and when the floodwaters arose and the river crashed against that house, it could not be shaken: for its foundation had been securely built upon solid rock.
- But the person who hears and does not put my words into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the river burst against that house, it collapsed immediately, and was utterly destroyed!”
Matthew 7:24-29
- Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
- The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
- But everyone who hears these words of mine and ignores them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
- The rain fell, the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed with a loud crash. And its collapse was a total disaster.
- When Jesus had finished this sermon, the crowds were astonished at His teaching,
- for He taught with real authority – quite unlike their teachers of religious law.
