The Tree and Its Fruit

Matthew 7:15-20

15. Watch out for false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are vicious wolves.
16. You will recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
17. In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit; but a corrupt tree produces evil fruit.
18. A good tree cannot produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit.
19. So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire.
20. So then, you will recognize false prophets by their fruit.

Luke 6:43-45

43. A good tree can not produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can not produce good fruit.
44. A tree is identified by its fruit. Figs are never gathered from thornbushes, and grapes are not picked from bramble bushes.
45. Good people bring good things out of the good stored up in their heart, and evil people bring evil things out of the evil stored up in their heart. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
