Teaching about Giving to the Needy

Matthew 6:1-4

1. Publicly, be careful not to practice acts of kindness merely to be admired by others. Otherwise, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2. When you give to the poor, don’t announce it with fanfare. That’s what show-offs and hypocrites do; both in synagogues and on the street corners, because they are always looking for praise. I can assure you that they already have their reward.
3. But when you give to the poor, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
4. so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
