  1. A few days later, Mary got up and went hurriedly into the hill country, to a town of Judah,
  2. and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.
  3. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
  4. She exclaimed with a loud voice,
"Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child in your womb!
43. And why am I so honored, that the mother of my Lord should visit me?
  1. For the instant the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
  2. You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what He said.”
Mary’s Song of Praise

Luke 1:46-56

  1. And Mary said,
"My soul magnifies the Lord,
47. How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!
48. For He took notice of His lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed.
49. For he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
50. His mercy is from generation to generation on those who fear Him.
51. He has demonstrated power with his arm; he has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance and imagination of their hearts.
52. He has toppled the mighty from their thrones and lifted up the poor and humble.
53. He has filled the hungry with good things, and has sent the rich away empty.
54. He has helped His servant Israel and remembered to be merciful.
55. He has done what he promised to our ancestors, to Abraham and his children forever."
  1. So Mary stayed with Elizabeth about three months and then returned to her home.
