Do Not Judge Others

Matthew 7:1-6

  1. Do not judge others. Then you will not be judged.
  2. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged; and the standards you use to judge others will be applied to you.
  3. Why do you look at the bit of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the splinter in your own eye.
  4. How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the bit of sawdust out of your eye,’ when you are blinded by the splinter in your own eye?
  5. Hypocrite! First remove the splinter out of your own eye. Then you will see clearly to help your brother remove the bit of sawdust in his eye.
  6. Don’t give what is holy to unholy people. And don’t give valuable pearls to swine who can not appreciate them; for they will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you.

Luke 6:37-42

  1. Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others and you will not be condemned. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.
  2. If you give to others, you will be given a full amount in return. It will be packed down, shaken together, and running over. The same standard you use in deciding how to treat others – will be the same standard used to determine how you should be treated.
  3. Then Jesus gave the following illustration: “Can one blind person lead another? Won’t they both fall into a ditch?
  4. Students are not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained will become like his teacher.
  5. You look at the bit of sawdust in your brother’s eye; but you are blinded by the splinter in your own eye.
  6. How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the bit of sawdust out of your eye;’ while you are blinded by the splinter in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the splinter out of your own eye. Then you will be able to see clearly to help your brother remove the bit of sawdust in his eye.

    Wow… reading Luke 6:38 this morning “. . . The same standard you use in deciding how to treat others – will be the same standard used to determine how you should be treated.” Made me think of my very bad habit of being late for appointments; and yet I always want God to be “on time” for me. I am so very thankful that God has impressed upon me to abide in the “Realm of Love.” And as a result, thankfully, I am doing somewhat better at being “on time.”
